Rooted in Mental Health

Mental Heath is important at every stage of life, but isn’t accessible to many nor encouraged by some. The stigma attached to mental health is real, and combatting that is something that the Growing Lives Foundation takes very seriously.

Mental Health affects how we think, feel, and act. It helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy decisions. Being a young person today is challenging enough, then add to it Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) that many of our scholars have experienced. ACEs are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood and can include violence, abuse, neglect, loss of a parent, having a household member incarcerated, being in a home with substance abuse issues, and more.

Not all people – adults and children – are comfortable nor thrive in a traditional talk therapy type of program. Growing Lives Foundation is working with experts to bring unique, therapeutic experiences to its scholars and will continue to create more programming as it is needed by scholars.
